Seranthony Dominguez Back In Ninth Inning, Earns Save
6 years agoAfter Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Victor Arano spent a week as the main closer, manager Gabe Kapler called on Seranthony Dominguez to once again assume that role. The 23-year-old initially took over the job by force, making 12 consecutive scoreless outings to begin his career. On Thursday, he entered with a one-run lead intact and tossed a perfect ninth, striking out a batter. While it appears unlikely that we’ll get one pitcher as clear-cut closer, Dominguez appeared to take over the majority of closing duties before Arano’s stretch and figures to remain at the top of the pecking order moving forward.
