Semyon Varlamov Starts On Tuesday Versus Washington
4 years agoNew York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov is the team's starter in Tuesday's home game against Washington. The Isles are looking to protect an outstanding 15-1-2 home record against Alex Ovechkin's squad. Varlamov is back between the pipes after Ilya Sorokin beat the Flyers 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday. The two Russians have shared the starts pretty evenly in recent weeks. Varlamov makes his 26th start of the campaign on Tuesday. He has a 15-7-3 record for the year with a 2.26 goals-against average, a .919 save percentage and three shouts. It's been a very solid season by Varlamov, but he owns a lowly 1-3-0 record against the Capitals, so it looks like an uncomfortable matchup for him.
