Semyon Varlamov Hurt In Battle With Avalanche
1 year agoNew York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov couldn't finish Tuesday's game against Colorado, exiting the contest with an undisclosed injury in the first period. He stopped 11 of 12 shots in an eventual 5-4 overtime loss. The veteran netminder only recently missed a game with an unspecified injury. It was the 13th start of the year for the Russian, who has posted a 6-4-2 record behind Ilya Sorokin. Ken Appleby filled the backup duties last week in a game against Washington when Varlamov wasn't available. He'll likely be brought back into the mix if Varlamov has to miss time.
