Sean Murphy Has Torn Meniscus
6 years agoOakland Athletics catching prospect Sean Murphy (knee) suffered a torn left meniscus and will require surgery. The typical recovery period for meniscus surgery is four to six weeks, but it could take Murphy longer because the injury affects his ability to squat behind the plate. It's a bummer because the 2016 third-round pick was hitting .324/.402/.459 in 19 games for Triple-A Las Vegas. Murphy is the team's No. 3 prospect and No. 42 overall, per MLB Pipeline, but his 2019 season has hit a bump in the road. He still may be worth stashing in dynasty/keeper leagues and has a chance to debut this season.
