Sean Murphy Getting A Breather Wednesday
1 year agoAtlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy is not in Wednesday's starting lineup as the club takes on the Dodgers and right-hander Tony Gonsolin in Atlanta. It's a well-earned breather for the backstop who is enjoying a massive season in his first year with the Braves. The former Athletics catcher has clubbed 10 homers along with a .947 OPS and a .408 wOBA across 171 plate appearances on the season. However, his .441 xwOBA suggests he's been even better than his surface numbers while his production has been 57% superior to the league average, as per his 157 wRC+. Travis d'Arnaud is hitting cleanup while catching right-hander Bryce Elder Wednesday night.
