Sean Durzi Taken By Maple Leafs In Second Round
6 years agoSean Durzi was made a second-round pick after he went undrafted in 2017. The Owen Sound defenseman finished his third season in the OHL and improved his points total significantly after a heavily-scrutinized 2016-17 season. For the first time in his career, he scored better than a point per game with 49 points (15 goals) in 40 games and kept up that pace in the postseason, adding 16 points in just 11 games on the blue line. He’s comfortable carrying the puck and gives his team an advantage in knowing when to join the rush as an extra attacker. He was named to the OHL’s second All-Star team, and his late-’98 birthday gives him an edge of more experience over others in this draft class. He’ll turn 20 shortly after this season begins, making him eligible for the AHL or ECHL.
