Seahawks Re-Sign Geno Smith
5 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks officially re-signed quarterback Geno Smith to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday, according to a source. Smith will return as the backup to Russell Wilson for the second straight season, pushing undrafted rookie Anthony Gordon to third on the QB depth chart in Seattle. The Seahawks are hoping that Wilson will remain in good health -- he hasn't missed a single game in his career yet. Smith isn't the greatest backup signal-caller, but it's at least better than having Gordon next up. If Wilson were to miss any time, Smith would merely be a low-end QB2 for those in deep two-QB or superflex leagues.
