Seahawks Expected To Re-Sign Geno Smith
5 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks have been expected all along to re-sign quarterback Geno Smith, and they could make the deal official soon, according to a source. Seattle's current depth behind Russell Wilson includes only rookie Anthony Gordon, so the Seahawks certainly need to upgrade, even if Smith isn't exactly anyone's version of a solid backup option under center. The 29-year-old didn't attempt any passes at all behind Wilson in 2019, and he had just four attempts in parts of five games as Philip Rivers' backup for the Chargers in 2018. If Wilson were to go down with injury at all in 2020, Seattle's offense would be in serious trouble and would lean even more on the ground game.
