8 months agoPhiladelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to illness. Given the trade speculation surrounding the 29-year-old, some alarm bells went off after he wasn't seen on the ice Wednesday but there appears to be another reason for his absence. A quality two-way center, Laughton has recorded 10 goals and 32 points across 63 games on the season after he recorded a career-high 18 goals and 43 points in 78 games last season. He also has 132 shots, 117 hits, 50 penalty minutes, and a plus-seven rating on his resume this season. He is currently in the third year of a five-year deal that carries a $3 million annual cap hit.--Brenton Kemp
