Scott Kingery’s Big Hit Ignites Comeback Victory
7 years agoLate in Saturday’s game at Busch Stadium between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Philadelphia Phillies, the road team found themselves down a run in the eighth inning. After two quick outs, outfielder Nick Williams drew a walk. The next man up was rookie Scott Kingery, who’s struggled at the plate the last month. The 24-year-old came up with one of his biggest hits of the season, delivering a triple to left that tied the game. It was the start of a game-changing inning, as Kingery would eventually come around to score the winning run. The Phillies prevailed, 7-6.
