Scooter Gennett To Injured List With Groin Strain
6 years agoCincinnati Reds second baseman Scooter Gennett (groin) will be out eight to 12 weeks with a right groin strain, the team announced on Saturday. Gennett injured himself while fielding a ball during Friday's Cactus League game against Milwaukee and his MRI confirmed the severity of the injury. This is bad news for Gennett owners as he was poised to continue his breakout that began two seasons ago. There was some speculation that Nick Senzel would be brought up to take Gennett's place, but the team has already announced that Kyle Farmer will be brought up as a catcher and infield depth instead. Jose Peraza now slides over to second, while Jose Iglesias will likely man the shortstop position. This is a great buy-low opportunity for anyone who can find a Gennett owner that's afraid of falling behind early in the season.
