Sandy Alcantara Playing Catch On Sunday
2 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara (biceps) is expected to play catch on Sunday and then throw a bullpen session over the next few days. If all goes well and he doesn't suffer a setback in his biceps then he is expected to start on Wednesday against the Braves. The former NL Cy Young Award winner was scratched from his start on Saturday due to biceps tendinitis but he's told reporters that it is a minor injury and that he's feeling better at the moment. This is good news for the Marlins and fantasy managers alike as it sounds like Alcantara will avoid the injured list. His status should still be monitored over the next few days, though. The 27-year-old owns an uncharacteristic 5.47 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and a 20:6 K: BB across 24 2/3 innings so far 2023.
