Sandy Alcantara Inefficient In Loss On Friday
3 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara managed to go only 4 2/3 innings pitched in the Marlins' 3-2 loss to the Padres on Friday night. Alcantara threw 94 pitches, allowing two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five. It was the second start in a row for Alcantara in which he failed to register a quality start, having allowed five earned runs his last time out against the Mariners. Despite the last two outings, Alcantara remains a must-start option, though the walks are a bit troubling so far this year. Over six starts in 2022, Alcantara owns a 3.03 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and a 31:16 K:BB ratio in 35 2/3 IP. He lines up to next face the Diamondbacks on the road on Wednesday in a very favorable matchup.
