Sam Moll Records First Career Save Tuesday
2 years agoOakland Athletics lefty Sam Moll completed the first save of his career on Tuesday when his club beat the New York Yankees 2-1. He worked around a pair of hits, allowing no runs and striking out two over one inning of work. Moll now owns a 3.99 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 35 strikeouts and 15 walks across 29.1 innings of work. Oakland's closer situation has been a rollercoaster all year, as seven arms have at least one save. Fantasy managers should consider Moll a candidate for save opportunities moving forward, though they'll likely be rare while a member of the A's.

Sam Moll Sent To Triple-A For Rehab Assignment
1 year agoCincinnati Reds left-hander Sam Moll (shoulder) was sent on a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Friday. Manager David Bell said that Moll is building his arm back up after being delayed in spring training with a left-shoulder impingement. He was able to pitch in a few Cactus League games as well as the team's scrimmage on Wednesday. Barring a setback in the minors, Moll should be able to rejoin Cincy's big-league bullpen soon to provide relief depth. The former third-round pick by the Colorado Rockies in 2013 out of Memphis had a 3.30 ERA (3.27 FIP), a 1.23 WHIP, his first career save, 30 walks and 68 strikeouts in 70 outings (one start) over 62 1/3 innings with the Reds and Oakland Athletics last year.

Sam Moll Expects To Be Ready For Opener
1 year agoCincinnati Reds left-hander Sam Moll (shoulder) is the team's only pitcher in camp yet to throw a bullpen session due to shoulder soreness he experienced during his offseason throwing program, but the veteran southpaw has been playing catch and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 season. He was one of the Reds' best performers down the stretch in 2023, posting a 0.73 ERA in 25 appearances after being acquired in a deadline trade with the Oakland Athletics. The 32-year-old reliever had a 3.03 ERA and 1.23 WHIP overall in 62 1/3 innings pitched last year with one save, 30 walks and a career-high 68 strikeouts. Moll will mostly serve in a middle-relief role and isn't really on the fantasy radar entering the season.
