Sam LaPorta Could Be Jared Goff's Second-Favorite Target
1 year agoWe knew the Detroit Lions had big plans for rookie tight end Sam LaPorta when they took him with the 34th overall pick in this year's draft. LaPorta has been with the first-team offense since the start of training camp this summer and he has shown the ability to make catches in traffic, provide yards after the catch and find ways to get open. The Athletic's Colton Pouncy writes that LaPorta might already be quarterback Jared Goff's second-favorite target behind receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Fantasy managers should always be wary of relying on a rookie tight end because of the learning curve at the position, but there's no denying that the 22-year-old should have a pretty big role right away. LaPorta is best drafted as a low-end TE2 with upside for more in deeper fantasy leagues.
