Miami Dolphins rookie running back Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) injured his shoulder in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. He left the game and is questionable to return. If Ahmed misses a bulk of this week's game, or all of the game, Matt Breida would likely see a sizeable workload with Patrick Laird seeing additional touches as well. Ahmed had five carries for 18 yards before the injury.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller

The Denver Broncos signed free-agent running back Salvon Ahmed to their practice squad on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, the Broncos released wide receiver Kaden Davis from the practice squad. Ahmed will give Denver some more depth at the RB position after Tyler Badie (back) was placed on a backboard and carted off in the Week 4 win over the New York Jets on Sunday. Badie is a candidate to go on Injured Reserve, which would put him out for at least four games, which would make sense why the team would be looking for more RB depth behind Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin on the 53-man roster. The 25-year-old Ahmed was released by the Miami Dolphins in August and will bide his time on the practice squad for now. Even if Ahmed joins the active roster at some point, he belongs on the waiver wire unless one of Williams or McLaughlin are injured.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Miami Dolphins released running back Salvon Ahmed on Monday, according to NFL insider Ari Meirov. Ahmed went undrafted out of Washington in 2020 and spent four years with Miami following a brief stint with the San Francisco 49ers. In 38 career games, he rushed 163 times for 593 yards and five touchdowns to go along with 40 receptions for 274 yards and one score. With the Dolphins adding rookie Jaylen Wright to an already-crowded running back room featuring Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane, the writing was on the wall for the end of Ahmed's tenure in Miami. Given the injury rate at the running back position, it wouldn't be surprising if he's on an active roster for another team before the 2024 NFL season wraps up.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBaller

The Miami Dolphins placed running back Salvon Ahmed (foot) on the Non-Football Injury list on Thursday. Ahmed served in a backup role in Miami's backfield last year before suffering a season-ending foot injury in November. The 25-year-old now won't be ready to take part in practices for the start of training camp next week. When healthy, he's in line to be the team's RB4 behind Raheem Mostert, De'Von Achane and rookie Jaylen Wright, so Ahmed isn't going to be a fantasy option in the vast majority of leagues. In mostly a pass-catching role in 2023, he caught a career-high 16 passes for 88 yards and one touchdown while adding 22 rushing attempts for 61 yards and another score in eight regular-season games for the Dolphins.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed (foot) was placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday with a foot injury that he suffered in the Week 11 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. He'll now be forced to miss at least the next four games. In a corresponding move, the Dolphins promoted wide receiver Robbie Chosen from the practice squad to the active roster. Miami's backfield is suddenly short-handed with rookie De'Von Achane (knee) also aggravating a knee injury that landed him on Injured Reserve from Weeks 6-9. Achane's injury isn't believed to be serious, but fantasy managers looking for running back help may want to consider adding Jeff Wilson Jr. off the waiver wire heading into Week 12 action. Raheem Mostert remains the team's lead back. Ahmed scored his first receiving touchdown of the year on Sunday with Achane hurt and Wilson a healthy scratch.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
