Salvador Perez To Have Surgery Tuesday
6 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (thumb) will have ligament surgery on his left thumb on Tuesday. He injured his thumb roughly six weeks ago and had been battling through it ever since. The recovery time from his surgery shouldn't affect his offseason conditioning. Perez should be able to resume hitting by late December, so he should be ready for spring training in plenty of time. Perez's average (.235) continues to drop, but the power is there, as he matched his previous career high of 27 homers in 2018. There's a lot more swing and miss to his game now, but Perez remains a high-end fantasy catcher for his power stroke.
