Sal Romano Puts Forth Great Start Tuesday
6 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Sal Romano took advantage of a favorable matchup against the Royals on Tuesday in a 5-1 win. Romano allowed just one run on four hits (including a solo home run) and a walk with two strikeouts through eight innings. The Reds scored their runs in the ninth and 10th innings, so Romano took a no-decision. This was the 24-year-old's first start out of his last six outings in which he allowed less than four runs. Romano now has a 3-7 record with a 5.67 ERA, 50 strikeouts, 31 walks and 13 HRs allowed in 73 innings pitched this season, so fantasy players should not trust him even after this good start. However, Romano may be able to take advantage of another favorable matchup Tuesday against the Tigers, who are hitting just .218 as a team in June and just lost Miguel Cabrera (biceps) for the rest of the season.
