Sal Frelick Begins Rehab Assignment
2 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Sal Frelick (thumb) started a minor-league rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Friday and has gone 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored and two walks in his first two games. Frelick, the Brewers' No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is attempting to return after having surgery to fix a sprained left thumb in late April. If the 23-year-old looks fine for a few more games at the rookie level, he should rejoin Triple-A Nashville, where he was hitting .232 (13-for-56) with three doubles, a triple, no homers, three RBI and four steals in 15 games before his injury. Fantasy managers may want to stash Frelick in deeper leagues, as he was close to earning a big-league call-up before his thumb injury. The left-handed hitter has excellent plate discipline, great contact skills and elite speed.
