Ryan Zimmerman Sits Wednesday, Howie Kendrick Bats Cleanup
7 years agoWashington Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman is sitting out Wednesday's game against the Pirates. Matt Adams, who hit two home runs on Tuesday, will start in his place at first and bat third. Howie Kendrick will start at second base and bat cleanup. Zimmerman went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's 12-4 rout, but is still slashing a measly .186/.245/.373 with 23 K's and only seven walks. It's getting harder to recommend him as a buy-low option, and he may just be sitting on your wire. But it's also difficult to believe that he's totally washed up, especially since there isn't anything wrong with him health-wise. Kendrick is 7-for-22 in the last seven days and just stole a base. He's 4-for-12 against Pirates starter Ivan Nova. Adams is 1-for-5 lifetime against Nova but has been lighting up righties all season. Both he and Kendrick are good streamers against Nova.
