Ryan Weathers Wins Rotation Spot
2 years agoSan Diego Padres left-hander Ryan Weathers has won the final spot in the team's six-man rotation, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com. The 23-year-old had a rocky Spring Training, pitching to a 4.91 ERA with a 1.57 WHIP and six walks over 14.2 innings, but collected 20 strikeouts. Weathers hasn't been too successful at the Major League level, as he owns a career 5.49 ERA with a 5.42 FIP, striking out batters at just a 17.8% rate and posting an 8.1% walk rate across 31 appearances. In 2022, he only pitched in one game with the Padres but struggled in Triple-A, with a 6.73 ERA. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too excited about Weathers and will want to wait and see if he's figured something out before making a move.
