2 years agoThe Tennessee Titans have ruled out quarterback Ryan Tannehill (ankle) for the Week 16 game against the Houston Texans on Saturday. Rookie Malik Willis will make the third start of his career on Christmas Eve. Tannehill was facing an uphill battle to play after re-injuring his right ankle in the Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, and there's a chance he could need surgery, which would end his season. Willis, 23, went a combined 11-for-26 for 135 yards, no touchdowns and an interception while being sacked six times in his two starts in 2022 against the Texans and Chiefs in Weeks 8 and 9. Especially against a poor Texans run defense, expect running back Derrick Henry to get as many carries as he can handle. The Titans will become an even more run-heavy offense for however long Willis is under center.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

7 months agoFree agent quarterback Ryan Tannehill's name has come up as a potential replacement for Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) with the Dolphins. But NFL Network's Ian Rapoport believes that Tannehill is looking for a situation where he can come in and be the starter for the rest of the season. With Tagovailoa recently going on IR and expressing a desire to return to competition, that might not be the case in Miami. Because of that Rapoport says the Dolphins don't appear to be the right fit for the former Tennessee Titans quarterback as he evaluates whether to return to an NFL field this season.--Brian Buckey - RotoBaller

7 months agoThe Green Bay Packers have reached out to free-agent quarterback Ryan Tannehill, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Tannehill has expressed interest in signing with an NFL team, but only if it's the right situation. Specifically, he's looking to play for a contender with strong offensive-line play and talented weapons. Green Bay represents a fit, not just because it meets those specifications, but also because the Packers recently learned that Jordan Love (knee) will miss several weeks with an MCL sprain. Without Love, the Packers' current quarterback room consists of Malik Willis and Sean Clifford. Tannehill could be an upgrade over those two players, though even if he does sign, he might require a little extra time to ramp up to an NFL-caliber quality of play.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

7 months agoFree agent quarterback Ryan Tannehill is waiting for the perfect opportunity before signing with an NFL team, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. His ideal landing spot would be a playoff contender with a strong offensive line, significant offensive weapons, and the need for a quarterback. He has reportedly been staying in shape and throwing to local receivers, keeping himself ready in case he gets the call. Rapoport notes that there's been some interest in Tannehill around the league, but evidently, his desired opportunity hasn't presented itself yet. One team to keep an eye on is the Green Bay Packers, who are contenders but are also preparing for a multi-week absence from Jordan Love (knee).--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

8 months agoFree-agent quarterback Ryan Tannehill is enjoying life with his family while acknowledging he's received offers from clubs around the National Football League. While that doesn't mean he's not interested in returning to the NFL, he's also waiting for the right situation before contemplating a comeback. "It's a weird feeling, right? Just because I've done it so long and loved every step of the way," said Tannehill during an interview. "But my son's birthday is tomorrow. I'm just going to get to celebrate my son's birthday fully and not be in training camp, so I'm really excited for that. But yeah, it's a weird feeling. I'm staying in shape and staying ready if the right thing pops up and comes available. But also at the same time, really enjoying where I'm at and the time with the family." The veteran signal-caller has played for the Dolphins and Titans since entering the league in 2012. In 155 games, he's thrown for 34,881 yards, 216 touchdowns, and 115 interceptions, adding 2,103 yards and 27 scores off 440 carries. With that said, teams will need a quarterback at some point during the 2024-25 campaign, meaning fantasy managers should continue to monitor Tannehill's plans throughout the season. This is even more true for those participating in multi-quarterback formats.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller
