2 years agoHouston Astros closer Ryan Pressly continued to struggle in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Pirates. Pressly came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning with the game tied. He allowed a leadoff single, got the first out on a strikeout, allowed another single, and then gave up a walk-off three-run home run to Ji Hwan Bae. The 34-year-old's performance has been a bit concerning so far, as he is 0-2 with no saves, an 8.44 ERA, and a dip in velocity on his main pitches. He does have six strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings pitched and does have strong job security, so he should be given some time to figure things out.
