Ryan Pressly Dealing With Blister
4 years agoHouston Astros relief pitcher Ryan Pressly (finger) couldn't pitch in the team's intrasquad game this week because of a blister on his right index finger. It's unclear when Pressly will be good to go, but he's running out of time to be ready for Opening Day next Friday. With closer Roberto Osuna behind in summer camp on top of it, this could create opportunities in high-leverage, late-inning situations for Bryan Abreu and Joe Smith early in the season. Pressly was an All-Star in 2019 with a 2.32 ERA and 11.9 K/9 in 55 relief appearances and remains useful as either a handcuff for Osuna or as a strikeout/holds artist. Even with his blister issue, Pressly is becoming more attractive in deep mixed leagues with Osuna potentially not being ready by Opening Day.
