Ryan Preece lacked the speed off the corners at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Preece and his Stewart-Haas Racing car qualified 31st for the Brickyard 400. The Ford lost several tenths of a second off Turns 3 and 4 alone. A lack of acceleration had a ripple effect as the runs went on. Preece was 35th in practice with a lap 1.371 seconds off the pace. Preece's ten-lap run was more than a half second slower than his five-lap version. His car seemed to slip off as the runs drew longer. Preece's best hope may lie in more cautions on Sunday afternoon. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
