6 years agoEdmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his seventh goal of the season in his team's 3-2 shootout defeat of the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday. The 25-year-old also added a tally in the shootout, playing an instrumental part in the victory. Nugent-Hopkins was a sleeper candidate for many analysts over the summer for his placement alongside the world's most dangerous scorer in Connor McDavid on the Oilers' top line. However, the crafty center has since been moved to a second-line role, tasked with providing an influx of secondary scoring for the team. The former first-overall draft pick has done just that with 25 points (seven goals, 18 assists) in 28 games and should continue to be an asset for fantasy owners despite his placement in the Oilers lineup.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller

9 months agoEdmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (illness) will be in the lineup for Game 7 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final against Florida on Monday. The longest-tenured Oiler missed Sunday's practice because he was feeling under the weather, but the illness bug won't keep Nugent-Hopkins from competing in the biggest game in hockey. The special game comes exactly 13 years after Edmonton selected Nugent-Hopkins first overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. The 31-year-old is a massive piece for the Oilers in all situations and has performed well in the postseason, notching seven goals and 22 points in 24 games. However, Nugent-Hopkins has been limited to only two assists on the offensive end in the matchup against the Panthers.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

10 months agoEdmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is penciled in for a first-line role in Tuesday's Game 4 against the Canucks. He's replacing Leon Draisaitl, who will get his own line at the start of the game. Nugent-Hopkins is riding a four-game point streak ahead of Tuesday's action. The 31-year-old is among the assists leaders in the playoffs with nine helpers and sits on 10 points overall through eight appearances.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

11 months agoEdmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins finished Wednesday's 5-1 win over Vegas with two assists. He registered an even-strength helper on Zach Hyman's goal in the second period and bagged a power-play assist when Leon Draisaitl scored in the third. After slumping for a couple of weeks, Nugent-Hopkins has looked fantastic in recent games. He has ended a season-worst five-game scoring slump with five points (one goal, four assists) across the last two games. The two big nights have pushed Nugent-Hopkins to 66 points (18 goals, 48 assists) with 76 games played.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

1 year agoEdmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (illness) is on track to return to the lineup for Friday's tilt against Minnesota. He missed Wednesday's game against Boston with an illness but took part in Friday's optional morning skate, which signals that Nugent-Hopkins is feeling well enough to rejoin the action. The 30-year-old is averaging nearly a point per game, with 15 goals and 34 assists posted in 52 outings. He should jump on the second line and the first power-play unit on Friday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
