Ryan Noda Going On Injured List With Fractured Jaw
1 year agoOakland Athletics rookie first baseman Ryan Noda (jaw) is going on the injured list with a fractured jaw. Noda played through the injury on Tuesday and hit a home run and a double after taking a ground ball to his face in pre-game batting practice. He was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Boston Red Sox, though, and now he'll have to miss some time. If Noda requires surgery, he'll likely miss much more than 10 days, so fantasy managers need to be prepared for a potential extended absence. The 27-year-old has been useful in deep-mixed leagues in his first major-league season. Noda is hitting only .229 (63-for-275), but he has 11 home runs, a .375 on-base percentage and a league-leading 60 walks. Rookie catcher Tyler Soderstrom got the start at the cold corner on Wednesday with Noda out.
