Ryan Madson Goes On DL
6 years agoThe Washington Nationals placed relief pitcher Ryan Madson (back) on the 10-day disabled list on Tuesday. In corresponding moves, relief pitchers Trevor Gott and Tim Collins were called up. Sammy Solis was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse and Erick Fedde (shoulder) was moved to the 60-day DL. The Nats bullpen is now officially a mess with Sean Doolittle, Kelvin Herrera and Madson on the shelf. Madson had allowed five earned runs in his last two outings, including a blown save and a loss on Sunday against the Cubs. He can be dropped now. Koda Glover is likely now the favorite for save chances until Doolittle returns, but he's only tossed 1 2/3 innings in the majors this year and allowed the game-winning homer on Monday night. Justin Miller and Greg Holland are other options. Only go after Glover if you're desperate for saves.
