Ryan Brasier Sent Down
5 years agoThe Boston Red Sox optioned relief pitcher Ryan Brasier to Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday and called up pitcher Darwinzon Hernandez from Pawtucket in a corresponding move. Brasier has struggled big time after excelling in a late-inning role in 2018, as he's 2-3 on the season with a 4.24 ERA. He gave up three earned runs and four hits in just two-thirds of an inning against Toronto on Monday and hasn't had a save since earlier in the year. If you were holding onto Brasier in a deeper league because you are desperate for saves, you can now safely drop him. Hernandez has experience in relief and in a starting role but is likely to serve as a long man in the bullpen in the short term.
