Ryan Blaney's Promising Daytona Run Ends In A Wreck
4 months agoTeam Penske's Ryan Blaney finished 29th in Saturday's Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway. Starting the race from the 14th position, Blaney quickly went up through the field during the first stage. The No. 12 Ford driver ended the first stage in fifth and collected stage points. In the race's second stage, Blaney continued to showcase how much stronger his car was compared to the rest of the field. Despite getting collected with some damage in a wreck on lap 61, Blaney still made it up to second by the end of the stage and gained more stage points. In the final stage, Blaney kept up the pace and ran in the Top 10 for most of the stage until Michael McDowell spun in front of Blaney. With nowhere to go, Blaney became involved in one of the race's biggest crashes and scored his third DNF of the season and third-consecutive at Daytona. As the Cup Series next heads to Darlington, Blaney will look to score another top-10 result like the two 2023 events at the site.
