Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney had high expectations to perform well in the Cookout Southern 500 as one of the top drivers in practice but ended up in a disappointing 37th-place finish. Blaney started the race in the seventh position but did not make it further than that, as Blaney lasted only two laps before his day was over. Just ahead of Blaney was Martin Truex Jr., whose car got loose in front of him due to contact with William Byron. As Truex lost control, Blaney was collected and smashed the wall. The No. 12 Ford driver received too much damage to continue the race and obtained a DNF for the second week in a row and his fourth overall of the year. As the Cup Series heads to Atlanta next week, Blaney is one to watch for a bounce-back week, as he nearly won at the site earlier in the season.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller
