Russell Wilson Gives Seahawks Deadline For Extension
6 years agoSeattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has given the team an April 15 deadline to complete negotiations for a long-term contract extension, according to a source with knowledge of the talks. April 15 is the first day of the team's offseason workout program. The star QB has one year left on his four-year, $87.6 million contract. Wilson said in January that he'd be fine playing the 2019 season without a new contract, but he wants to get an extension done early. Seattle ran the ball more than any other team in 2018, but the 30-year-old still had 3,448 yards passing on 280 attempts with a career-high 35 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. The Seahawks reliance on the run may hurt his fantasy upside moving forward, but Wilson remains in the QB1 discussion.
