1 year agoRussell Henley will likely be a popular golfer for fantasy managers this week, and rightfully so. The 34-year-old tour veteran has made the cut in all seven of his starts this season, including four top-15 finishes and a T4 finish at the difficult Arnold Palmer Invitational last week. He has also posted back-to-back top-20 finishes at TPC Sawgrass, and his recent form could bring him into contention over the weekend. Henley ranks fourth in good drive percentage, 24th around-the-green, and 13th in bogey avoidance over the last 24 rounds, and he's only lost strokes ball-striking twice since the last year's Players Championship. Henley profiles as a very safe option with upside and win equity at a reasonable $8,600 DraftKings salary, and fantasy managers should strongly consider getting some exposure to him this week.--Ryan Hickey

1 month agoRussell Henley finished tied for sixth at last week's Cognizant Classic and is now preparing to tee it up at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club for this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational. Henley has not missed a cut in 2025 and finished tied for fourth at this tournament in 2024 while finishing T53 in 2023. It's important to note that at last year's Arnold Palmer Invitational, over 35% of approach shots were taken from 150-200 yards. Over the past 12 months, Henley has ranked in the 75th percentile for approach shots from this distance in the fairway. Henley could be a strong addition to DFS lineups this week.--Ian Christenson - RotoBaller

1 month agoIt's tough to think about PGA National without thinking of Russell Henley's epic playoff win in 2014 that included a young and spry Rory McIlroy. Since then, he's continued to play well here, including a T3 in 2021 and a T8 in 2020. Given the draw-biased nature of the layout at the Champion Course and the bermudagrass surfaces, it fits Henley's game from wall to wall. It's been an impressive start to his 13th year on the PGA Tour with a T5 at Pebble Beach, and a T10 at the Sony Open thanks to strong play with the irons and putter. Ranking 24th in both strokes gained metrics. If the driver doesn't kill him, the former Georgia Bulldog could become a repeat champion in Palm Beach Gardens come Sunday evening.--Todd McGill - RotoBaller

2 months agoIt may seem a bit far-fetched to call for outright fading a guy like Russell Henley, who's done nothing but improve over his first three starts this season. However, this famed municipal track doesn't particularly play into his skillset. The long par-4s don't give him many looks with wedges and low irons that are much more solid than his longer clubs, and his strength with the putter--while a limited sample size here--hasn't been as blatant. As someone who ranks 167th in driving distance (291.8) and has spotty approach numbers from beyond 200 yards, Henley's ceiling seems reduced and is coupled with a floor that could tank a lineup if things go sideways. --Todd McGill - RotoBaller

2 months agoRussell Henley has gotten off to a strong start in 2025, recording a T10 at the Sony Open and a T30 at The Sentry. His success has been fueled by elite approach play, ranking seventh on tour in proximity to the hole on approach shots (31 feet, nine inches). Pebble Beach, the shortest par-72 course on tour at just 6,972 yards, plays to Henley's strengths. While he ranks 163rd in driving distance, Henley excels in driving accuracy, currently ranking eighth, which will be more beneficial this week. Another key stat is proximity from 100-150 yards, as 37.6% of all approach shots at Pebble Beach come from this range. Henley ranks in the 98th percentile for proximity from this distance. Though he finished T58 at this event last year, fantasy managers should expect a stronger performance this time around. At $7,900 on DraftKings, Henley is certainly worth strong consideration for lineups.--Dakota Legg - RotoBaller
