2 years agoThe Kansas City Royals signed free-agent infielder Johan Camargo to a minor-league deal on Saturday. Camargo will provide the rebuilding Royals with some veteran infield depth for 2023. The 29-year-old hit .237/.297/.316 with a .613 OPS, three home runs, 15 RBI and eight runs scored in just 52 games in his first year with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022. He's more useful for his glove and defensive versatility on the infield, so Camargo most likely won't come into play in fantasy leagues, even the deepest ones. In his six-year major-league career, Camargo has a .255/.313/.410 slash line with a .723 OPS, 37 home runs, 159 RBI, 149 runs scored and two stolen bases in 1,339 plate appearances over 416 games. He won't be guaranteed to be on KC's Opening Day roster.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
