Royals Send Jackson Kowar Down
4 years agoKansas City Royals rookie right-hander Jackson Kowar was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday to make room on the roster for left-hander Danny Duffy, who was activated from the 10-day injured list. Kowar was excellent at Omaha before he was called up, going 5-0 with a pristine 0.85 ERA and 0.88 WHIP while fanning 41 and walking 10 in 31 2/3 innings pitched over six starts, but that success definitely didn't carry over to the big leagues in his debut. The 24-year-old allowed 10 runs in five innings of work in his first three appearances (two starts) for the Royals. The No. 4 prospect in the organization, per MLB Pipeline, Kowar will head back to the farm to hone his craft. He should eventually be a middle-of-the-rotation workhorse, but he's just not there yet.
