Rory McIlroy Never Threatens At Irish Open
6 years agoPlaying in the biggest tournament for his home country, Irishman Rory McIlroy couldn't get much going at the Irish Open, shooting a two-under total for an eventual T28 finish. McIlroy was unable to break 70 in any of the four rounds and was never really a threat. After winning this event in 2016, McIlroy has had two sub-par performances. Unfortunately results like this are becoming the norm for McIlroy, who continues to be one of the world's best ball-strikers but lacks on the greens. McIlroy will take a week off before the year's third major at Carnoustie, and as usual he will need a hot putter to truly contend.
