Ronald Guzman Signs Minors Deal With Orioles
10 months agoFree agent first baseman/pitcher Ronald Guzman has signed a minor-league deal with the Baltimore Orioles. The 29-year-old declared last offseason he was attempting to transition into a two-way player but that plan was put on hold when he injured his forearm after throwing a pitch in a spring training game with the San Francisco Giants last spring. He would only make 10 plate appearances for the Giants' Complex League team in 2023, going hitless in that time. He has made two pitching outings in the Dominican Winter League this offseason but issued four walks and two hit-by-pitches in the seven batters he faced, recording just one combined out while allowing three earned runs despite not allowing a hit. It's unclear how the Orioles plan to use him this spring.
