Ronald Acuna Wins NL Rookie Of the Year
6 years agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna was named the 2018 National League Rookie Of the Year on Monday. He topped Nationals outfielder Juan Soto and Dodgers starting pitcher Walker Buehler for the award. Acuna received 27 first-place votes out of 30. He homered in his second career game and led the team with 26 home runs and a .917 OPS in 111 games. He became one of five players in history to hit 26 home runs before his 21st birthday. Acuna's 55 extra-base hits in his first 100 games are the sixth most in history. He managed to hit 19 home runs in the last 68 games of the season and had the NL's third highest OPS (1.028) in that span. Needless to say, Acuna will be a very high draft pick heading into his second season.
