Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Roman Quinn stole a base and scored a run in Grapefruit League action against the Tigers on Sunday. Quinn is competing with Scott Kingery, Odubel Herrera, and Mickey Moniak for the starting job in center field. Quinn has always had elite speed making him a tantalizing roto-league target in deeper leagues. The issue has always been hitting enough to stay in the lineup. Quinn is batting .320 with a .393 on-base percentage so far this spring so he's making his case to the coaching staff for playing time. If Quinn can get regular at-bats he'd be a solid option in category-based fantasy leagues that start five outfielders.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller

The Tampa Bay Rays signed veteran outfielder Roman Quinn on Thursday. The 29-year-old was released by the Kansas City Royals just a day earlier. The Rays will be Quinn's third team this season as he began the year with the Philadelphia Phillies. He will be one of the team's replacements to outfielder Harold Ramirez (thumb), who fractured his thumb right before the All-Star break. Quinn has slashed just .162/.225/.189 at the plate this year, but he's stolen 43 bases across 201 MLB games dating back to 2016.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller

The Kansas City Royals released three players from its Triple-A Omaha roster on Wednesday -- outfielder Roman Quinn and right-handed pitchers Brad Peacock and Brandon Barker. Quinn began the 2022 season with the Philadelphia Phillies, but he was designated for assignment by the team in early June. After clearing waivers, he elected free agency and signed with the Royals. The 29-year-old hit just .162/.225/.189 over 23 games with the Phillies this year. Peacock, meanwhile, had been down at Triple-A Omaha all year. Over 35 relief appearances, he pitched to a stellar 1.64 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. Given those solid results, it seems likely the 34-year-old will land another minors contract soon.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
