Rockies Option Elehuris Montero To Triple-A
2 years agoThe Colorado Rockies optioned infielder Elehuris Montero to Triple-A Albuquerque after Sunday's game. Montero will head back to the farm to work on some things offensively after hitting just .198/.223/.321 with two home runs, five doubles, a triple, 13 RBI and 11 runs scored in 112 trips to the plate over 35 games in his second major-league season. The 24-year-old third baseman went only 6-for-42 (.143) with a home run, two doubles, four RBI, three runs scored and 18 strikeouts in 14 games since June 10. Montero will need to raise his walk rate and lower his strikeout rate at Albuquerque before the Rockies give him another chance in the second half of the 2023 season.
