Riley Stotts Drafted 83rd Overall By Maple Leafs
6 years agoThe Maple Leafs added a centerman to the prospect pipeline, drafting Riley Stotts of the Calgary Hitmen in the third round. A victim of circumstance, Stotts began the season buried on a strong Swift Current Broncos team, where he only scored three points in 22 games. He was flipped to Calgary mid-season, and came to life, scoring 41 points in 47 games. Standing at 6-foot, he’s got a decent frame but will need to bulk up, he weighs in at just 168 pounds. Identified as a middleweight, Stotts doesn’t jump off the board with any single attribute, but his game is very well-rounded, works hard and is reported to elevate the game of those around him; something very valuable in a centerman. He should likely return to the WHL for a year or two more before cracking an NHL roster.
