Ricky Karcher Earns Save In First Career Appearance Monday
1 year agoCincinnati Reds relief pitcher Ricky Karcher had a memorable big-league debut in Monday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Royals. Karcher came in to pitch the bottom of the 10th inning up by one with an automatic runner on second. He allowed a leadoff walk, got the first out on a flyout, allowed a double steal, and got a pop-out and another flyout to end the game. The 25-year-old got the call, as the team's closer, Alexis Diaz had pitched both Saturday and Sunday. While it was a fun moment, Karcher owns a poor 9.27 ERA in 22 1/3 innings pitched with Triple-A Louisville, so he holds little fantasy value.
