Richard Rodriguez Earns Loss Saturday Against Tigers
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Richard Rodriguez earned the loss on Saturday against the Tigers, allowing one run on two hits in one inning of work in a 3-1 defeat. Rodriguez looked sharp in his first three appearances of the spring, but his last two performances have not been as good, as he has allowed two runs on five hits and one walk with one strikeout in 1 1/3 innings of work. He has been considered the frontrunner for the closer job this spring, but that lead has been diminishing with some of the other performances out of the bullpen, with David Bednar emerging as a potential candidate to eventually take the role. For now though, until anything is officially said, Rodriguez remains the Pirates reliever to target in drafts.
