Rhys Hoskins Receiving A Breather Against Cubbies
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins will take the night off on Thursday against the Chicago Cubs. It's just a routine day of rest. Hoskins has been fantastic so far in July in six games, going 8-for-21 (.381) with three home runs, nine RBI, three walks and four strikeouts. It's raised his overall slash line on the year to .233/.310/.486, and he's added 20 long balls and 53 RBI for his fantasy managers in 355 plate appearances. Look to get him back into your lineups on Friday night. Brad Miller will get the start at first base and will hit in the two-hole against Cubs right-hander Adbert Alzolay on Friday. Alzolay has struggled against lefties this year, so Miller makes for an acceptable DFS sleeper, albeit without a ton of upside in the counting stats.

Rhys Hoskins Staying In Milwaukee
5 months agoThe Milwaukee Brewers exercised their 2025 club option on first baseman Rhys Hoskins. After missing the entire 2023 campaign with a torn ACL, Hoskins posted a modest .214/.303/.419 line in 2024 with 26 home runs, 82 RBI, and a 53:149 BB:K ratio. Hoskins has now hit at least 25 home runs in each of the past three seasons he has played in but has seen his batting average drop lower in each consecutive year as well. Under the hood, the 31-year-old posted a strong 12.7% barrel rate but with a poor 26.3% whiff rate and 28.8% K rate. Hoskins remains a depth infield option heading into 2025 with an upside for power in category leagues. His hefty strikeout rate significantly lowers his value in points leagues.

Rhys Hoskins Continues Power Surge On Saturday
8 months agoMilwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins continued his power surge on Saturday evening, going 1-for-4 with a three-run shot. Hoskins went deep in the fourth inning, scoring Willy Adames and Jake Bauers. This was the 31-year-old's second consecutive game, tallying a round-tripper, and third in his past six games. This is a great sign, as Hoskins has set a monthly high of six long balls through July with a .492 SLG. His previous high was five home runs in April. Even though Hoskins has struggled to find consistency this summer, he is worth putting in your lineup for the time being, as he enjoys this hot stretch.

Rhys Hoskins, Jackson Chourio Out On Thursday
9 months agoMilwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins and rookie outfielder Jackson Chourio will both start on the bench on Thursday in the series finale against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates. Jake Bauers is starting at first base and batting sixth, while Blake Perkins will make his fifth straight start in center field and hit in the nine-hole against Pirates rookie right-hander Paul Skenes. Hoskins, 31, went 4-for-25 with three home runs and six RBI while starting each of the last seven games, so he'll just be getting a normal day of rest in the difficult matchup. The 20-year-old Chourio started each of the previous six games and has been on a heater offensively since June 23, going 18-for-53 (.340) with two homers, five doubles, nine RBI, five walks, two steals and 12 runs scored. After a slow start in his first MLB season, Chourio is now up to nine long balls, 35 RBI, 10 steals and 39 runs scored.

Rhys Hoskins Hits Grand Slam Monday
9 months agoMilwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins made his only hit count in Monday's 6-3 win over the Rangers, going 1-for-4 with a grand slam and two strikeouts. Hoskins came to the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning down by two with the bases loaded and no outs, ambushing a Jacob Latz fastball deep into the left-field seats. Despite the blast, the 31-year-old has hit for less average and power than usual, slashing .224/.316/.423 with 11 HR, 23 runs scored, and 35 RBI in 232 plate appearances. The good news is that he has picked things up a bit lately and now has a six-game hitting streak. Hopefully, he will be able to continue this for fantasy managers.
