Rhett Lowder Delivers Strong Outing In Double-A

On Tuesday, Cincinnati Reds starting pitching prospect Rhett Lowder threw five innings against the Biloxi Shuckers. He struck out six, allowing five hits and two runs. Since his promotion to Double-A, Lowder has mostly struggled. Through 48 1/3 innings, he's posted a 6.52 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, and 50:11 K:BB. He's shown flashes of success, but his overall numbers are bogged down by a few dreadful outings. Cincinnati's top prospect (per MLB.com) is expected to make his MLB debut this year. Hopefully, this start was the beginning of a hot streak that ultimately turns into a call-up.
