Reynaldo Lopez Earns Five-Out Save For Angels Monday
1 year agoLos Angeles Angels relief pitcher Reynaldo Lopez earned his fifth save of the season and first for the Angels in Monday's 4-1 win over the Braves. Lopez came into the game in the eighth inning up by two with one out and nobody on. He got the second out on a strikeout, allowed a walk, and got the third out on a groundout. Lopez allowed a leadoff walk in the ninth but got the next three hitters out on a flyout and two strikeouts. Closer Carlos Estevez had pitched two innings in Sunday's game, so newly-acquired Lopez got the call. Lopez has had an erratic season for the White Sox and Angels, converting only half of his save opportunities with a 4.00 ERA, 11.60 K/9 rate, and 4.80 BB/9 rate. While he may pick up a handful of saves the rest of the way, Lopez's questionable ratios limit his fantasy value in all but deep roto leagues.
