Red Sox Working To Land A Starter From The Mariners
1 hour agoOn Wednesday, the Boston Red Sox acquired starting pitcher Garrett Crochet from the White Sox. Despite that move, the team is reportedly still interested in stockpiling more pitching help, more precisely, one of the Mariners' starters. Seattle has a plethora of young talent in their rotation including George Kirby and Logan Gilbert, but it is veteran Luis Castillo whose name has come up as a potential target. With the Mariners also in on trying to land Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki, it would seemingly make one of the rotation arms expendable were that to come to fruition. On the Red Sox side of things, first baseman Tristan Casas could be moved for Castillo, especially if the BoSox were also to land third baseman Nolan Arenado from the Cardinals, which could mean incumbent Rafael Devers would need to make a move to first base. Casas battled injury last season but hit 24 home runs in 132 games in 2023, while Castillo is a 3x All-Star.
