Red Sox Still Unlikely To Re-Sign Craig Kimbrel
6 years agoThe Boston Red Sox remain steadfast that they will not have a "big expenditure at the closer position," even on a short-term deal, according to president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski. That means it remains unlikely that Boston will re-sign closer Craig Kimbrel for 2019. Boston will likely use an "internal" option for the ninth inning this year. Kimbrel is one of the best closers in the game and had a 2.74 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and excellent 13.9 K/9 with 42 saves in 63 outings. The hard-throwing right-hander has 333 career saves and is RotoBaller's No. 3 fantasy closer despite not having a team yet.
