Red Sox Showing Interest in Fernando Rodney
6 years agoAt this point, it might be more newsworthy to report on a reliever that the Boston Red Sox are not interested in. Minnesota Twins closer Fernando Rodney is the latest name on the Red Sox list in their effort to improve the bullpen. Red Sox general manager Dave Dombrowski is very familiar with Rodney from their time together with the Detroit Tigers. The 41-year-old has enjoyed a bit of a resurgence this year with the Twins. He has a solid 2.97 ERA across 30 1/3 innings and has converted 18 of his 23 save opportunities. Like all relievers the Red Sox are interested in, a trade would seriously hurt their fantasy value. Craig Kimbrel is locked into the closer role, so any bullpen additions would have their save opportunities virtually disappear.
