Red Sox, Jorge Alfaro Reportedly Agree To Minor League Deal
2 years agoMLB.com's Shanthi Sepe-Chepuru reported Monday that the Boston Red Sox reportedly agreed to a minor-league deal with free-agent catcher Jorge Alfaro. The Red Sox would reportedly pay Alfaro $2 million if he is added to the big league roster. The agreement would also include two opt-outs on June 1 and July 1 if he is not with the team on either date. The 29-year-old held some fantasy intrigue earlier in his career but has never really delivered. He slashed .246/.285/.383 with seven home runs and 40 RBI in 274 plate appearances with the Padres in 2022. Alfaro could potentially hold some fantasy value in deep two-catcher leagues if he were to make the big-league roster, but a lot would have to go right for him to get to that point.
